Debbie Theye
Associate of Science in Accounting - Graduate
Meet Debbie Theye: It's Never Too Late to Learn
According to Debbie Theye - graduate of Stonecliffe College Online, an academic division of Colorado Technical University - it's never too late to learn. "I've always wanted a college degree so I decided it was about time to earn one. With working as a secretary doing bookkeeping and other administrative duties at an elementary school – the learning environment helped motivate Debbie to make the decision to continue her education.
Choosing Stonecliffe College Online was an easy choice for Debbie. "I live in a small town and the closest college campus is over an hour away so I had little choice but to look online for education options. I searched online and discovered quite a few online universities." After researching many online universities Debbie was led to Stonecliffe College Online by the outstanding Virtual Campus and the availability of degrees offered. "A lot of other online universities just don't have what Stonecliffe College Online has."

Debbie completed the Associate of Science in Accounting degree program through Stonecliffe College Online. "I chose accounting because I've always worked in bookkeeping. I entered that field when I started working years ago and never had a chance to go to college to earn a degree. Debbie found the classroom format through Stonecliffe College Online to be very convenient for her busy schedule. "It's easy for busy people to complete the coursework and attend the class sessions on their own time. You might miss out on the one-on-one time with the instructors but you can listen to the archives when you want and easily reach the instructors when you need them. It all works out really well."
While Debbie currently has accounting duties in her position at the elementary school, her degree coursework has already helped her to take on more responsibilities in her job and she also sees room for advancement. "My degree has already helped me a lot in my job. I know a lot more than what I did before and I have taken on more duties than I have in the past. I've learned there are numerous ways to approach accounting work as opposed to the ways I've always done things."
Earning a college degree has opened up more options for Debbie too. "Since I have quite a few years left before I retire, I wanted to have a college degree for the next time I search for a job. There are other jobs I've wanted in the past that required a degree - and I now have that degree. I will be able to search for the type of job I want instead of just taking any job available.
Debbie hasn't decided yet if she will pursue a Bachelor's degree but her first choice will be Colorado Tech Online. "I didn't know if I would be able to handle returning to school but I know I can. I deserve an education and put it on the back-burner for so many years. You never are too old to go back and learn." Debbie recommends online learning through Stonecliffe College Online, an academic division of Colorado Technical University, for those returning to college. "Stick with it and don't give up – everyone deserves to have an education."
