Jeremy Kofoot
Associate of Science in Information Technology
With some experience working in information technology and after attending a community college, Jeremy Kofoot thought he would have no trouble obtaining a position in network administration. After he had to relocate and conduct a job search, he had to think again. "I applied for many positions in network administration, but I was not getting interviews. I soon realized that an Associate's degree program in IT working toward earning a Bachelor's degree in IT is necessary in order for me to be considered for the professional level positions I am seeking."
Jeremy accepted a position as a help desk service engineer after relocating, but soon decided that if he wanted to obtain a higher level position in information technology, he would have to continue his education. "Because I am working full-time on third shift, I began to consider colleges and universities that offer online degree programs that can fit into my schedule. After a lot of research, I decided that Stonecliffe College Online, and academic division of Colorado Technical University was my best choice. I enrolled in the Associate of Science in Information Technology degree program because it will broaden my IT skills and knowledge, and lead me directly into a Bachelor's degree program through Colorado Tech Online."

Jeremy feels that the course materials are very relevant to his current position and are consistent with his career goals. "As a service desk engineer, I monitor a network that utilizes various systems and I am responsible for providing help and support to end users. That inevitably leads to troubleshooting and questions from my supervisors. Some of the concepts I have learned though my courses with Stonecliffe have helped me prepare flow charts and reports in my current position, which makes my job easier. I am building a knowledge base and gaining practical skills that complement my experience. That will open the door to obtaining a position at a professional level in information technology."

Jeremy plans on relocating again in the near future and is convinced that his next job search will have better results. "I have a working plan involving distinct educational stepping stones that put me on track to achieve specific educational and professional goals. Once I begin my Bachelor's program, I will have a much better chance of attaining a position as a network administrator no matter where I chose to live.
